  1. Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds prior to treatment. Also avoid self-tanning products for two weeks prior. Any residual self tanner must be removed completely before treatment.

  2. Recently tanned skin cannot be treated. If treated within 2 weeks of active (natural or tanning booth) tanning, you may develop hypopigmentation (white spots) after treatment and this may not clear for 2-3 months or more. Always be honest with your tech.

  3. Please shave the area 12-24 hours prior to treatment, but avoid any hair removal treatments that remove the hair follicle for 6 weeks prior to your treatment. This includes: plucking, waxing, sugaring and bleaching. Thed hair must be in the follicle as this is what the laser will target.

  4. Do not apply any lotions, creams, oils or deodorant to the skin before treatment.

  5. Avoid topical Retin-A, any acids (salicylic acid, glycolic acids), or any exfoliants for 3 days prior treatment.

  6. If you are taking antibiotics for illness, treatment may resume 2 weeks after your course is finished.

  7. You must be off Accutane for 6 months prior to service.

  8. If you have a history of perioral or genital herpes herpes simplex virus, call your physician and discuss/request prophylactic antiviral treatment. Follow the directions of the antiviral medication prior to treatment.

  • How do I prepare for my laser hair removal treatment?
For about six weeks prior to treatment, you should avoid plucking, electrolysis or waxing. On the day of your treatment, skin should be clean-shaven and thoroughly cleansed of any makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics or self-tanning products. Apply sunblock (SPF 30 or above) before your treatment. Do not expose the treatment area to sunlight or tanning booth light prior to or immediately after treatment. If you have a history of herpes simplex virus, a prophylactic antiviral therapy must be prescribed.
  • Do you offer Laser Hair Removal at all locations?

  • What Laser Hair Removal Equipment do you use?
At Glam Body Sugaring Boutique NYC, we use the world's leading laser hair removal technology. The gold standard in the industry, Candela GentlePro Max Plus is medical grade, offering top tier results for all Fitzpatricks (skin tones). This technology is FDA approved and utilizes both Alexandrite and ND:yag technology to provide the absolute best and fastest results on the market. The epidermis is protected by the Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD™), which sprays the treatment area before each laser pulse with a liquid cryogen coolant. This system provides a cooling protection factor over 50% greater than contact or air cooling and can be adjusted to individual needs to make the procedure as comfortable as possible!
  • Is Gentle laser hair removal painful?
Some patients may feel slight discomfort, which has been compared to snapping a rubber band against the skin. This discomfort resolves quickly and is minimized by our patented Dynamic Cooling Device. We can apply a topical numbing cream prior to service if requested. We also have cooling packs for your comfort after service.
  • Can Gentle Hair Removal be done on darker skin tones?
Yes! Many laser hair removal treatments don’t cater to all skin types, but there’s a Gentle Hair Removal treatment that’s right for you, no matter your skin tone. Here at Glam Body, we comfortable treat all skin tones.
  • How long does Gentle laser hair removal take?
A treatment can take as little as a few minutes to as long as an hour, depending on the treatment area and the condition being treated. Both legs can often be treated in as few as 15 minutes, as can an average-sized man’s back.
  • How often do I need to get Laser Hair Removal treatments?
Depending on the hair, skin type, and body area being treated, you will require treatments at 4-6 weeks intervals. For the facial area, treatments should be done in 2-week intervals unless recommended otherwise. Each part of the facial and body area has a different growing cycle, so hair reduction will vary depending on what stage your follicles are in at the time of the treatment. After each treatment hair is reduced hence it is important to complete the entire recommended course of treatments and at consistent intervals for best results. We recommend a series of 8-12 treatments and maintenance treatments every 12 months for permanent hair reduction. However, as everyone is unique, we access all our clients on a case-by-case basis. During your complimentary consultation, your therapist will discuss a schedule that works with your desired results.
  • What can I expect after treatment?
A cool compress or gel pack may be applied for additional comfort after your treatment. Any redness or swelling should resolve in a few hours, and is completely normal for all skin types bt more so for sensitive skin.
  • What precautions should I take after treatment?
After your treatment, your skin will be much more prone to sun damage, so be sure to use sunblock with SPF 30 or greater. In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers. Your practitioner may advise additional precautions.
  • How can I book an appointment?
Click on one of our locations at the top of the screen to start your booking process!

While side effects – such as redness, swelling, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering, or purpura (a bruise-like condition) in the treated area – can occur, it is rare for them to be permanent, and will usually go away in a few days. Your provider will have more information about potential side effects.

  • When will I see results?
Hair begins to fall out around 2 weeks after your treatment, but it's very important to complete the recommended amount of treatments for optimal results. Laser hair removal generally requires 6-10 treatments depending on hair growth, hair type and color, and the area of removal. Appointments should be spaced about 4 weeks apart for face and 6 weeks apart for body.
  • Is it permanent?
While laser hair removal isn't a 100% permanent solution, it will significantly reduce future hair growth in treated areas. Hair that returns will be sparse, thinner and possibly lighter. For best results, we recommend maintenance treatments once or twice a year, depending on how your hair responds.
  • Is there any downtime?
While there's no downtime associated with laser hair removal, you may experience some redness afterward. We recommend you stay out of the sun for two weeks before treatment and one week after.
  • I'm pregnant, can I get laser hair removal?
We recommend avoiding laser hair removal during pregnancy.
  • Can I have Gentle Laser Hair removal if I'm on certain medications?
Certain medications can cause photo-sensitivity to the skin and this may affect the skin's reaction to the treatment. These medications are but not limited to oral and topical vitamin A's, antibiotics, and certain anti-depressants. It is best to speak with your medical professional and obtain medical clearance. After obtaining medical clearance, we are able to test patch you with the laser to determine it is safe to commence treatment.
  • Can I have Laser Hair Removal over tattoos?
No, unfortunately we cannot treat over tattoos with our laser. We can treat around the tattooed areas with a gap of 3cm.
  • What's the minimum age for Laser Hair Removal?
At Glam Body Sugaring Boutique, we recommend that Laser Hair Removal clients undergoing Laser Hair Removal treatments are 18 years or older. This ensures optimal treatment results. Prior to the age of 18 years, hair growth has not fully developed due to changing hormonal levels.
  • Is Laser Hair Removal the best option for Hidradenitis Suppurativa?
Depending on your symptoms and the stage of your hidradenitis suppurativa, your physician may recommend laser hair removal as part of your hidradenitis suppurativa treatment plan. Laser hair removal has proven to be an ideal treatment for those with moderate and localized hidradenitis suppurativa. However, while not everyone’s hidradenitis suppurativa symptoms will improve with laser hair removal, most medical professionals agree that laser hair removal is the safest method of hair removal for hidradenitis suppurativa sufferers.Traditional hair removal methods like shaving and waxing carry inherent risks for anyone struggling with hidradenitis suppurativa. Waxing. Applying molten wax to your skin may inflame your symptoms and cause further irritation. It can also put you at a greater risk for infection if the entire hair isn’t removed when the strip rips off of your skin.. Shaving. While safer than waxing, shaving is also risky. A simple nick from your razor—who hasn’t had one of those—can create new lesions or infections.Additionally, the damage the razor does to your skin may lead to a consistent flare-ups. Laser Hair Removal. Unlike outdated hair removal methods, it removes unwanted hair at the root without damaging the surface of the skin. Allowing you to get rid of your unwanted hair without the risk of flare-ups, new lesions, or infections. For individuals who struggle with hidradenitis suppurativa, laser hair removal is the safest and most effective way to say goodbye to unwanted hair. PERMANENTLY.
  • Is Laser Hair Removal ideal for PCOS?
The hormone fluctuations commonly associated with PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome cause hair follicles to become “active”. This side effect of PCOS is what causes unwanted hair to grow. While there is no cure for polycystic ovarian syndrome, it’s important to manage your symptoms to lower your risk for long-term health problems like heart disease or fertility issues. Since each case of PCOS is unique, it’s important to work closely with your physician to develop a plan to minimize the effects it can have on your health. Many physicians will include laser hair removal as part of your plan to manage your PCOS symptoms. That’s because laser hair removal permanently removes the unwanted hair by eliminating it at the root so that it can never grow back. Managing the unwanted hair associated with PCOS by shaving, waxing, or plucking only yields temporary results, and electrolysis is extremely painful and time consuming.
  • Is Laser Hair Removal the best option of Folliculitis?
Folliculitis—more commonly known as Barber’s itch, razor bumps, hot tub rash, or shaving rash—occurs when the root of your unwanted hair becomes infected. While folliculitis can happen to anyone, two things that increase your risk for developing the embarrassing and often painful red bumps, boils & blisters associated with this common condition are shaving and waxing. That’s because in the process of removing your unwanted hair these methods damage and irritate your skin. Avoiding your razor or that molten wax may help keep those unsightly pimples and angry red bumps away for a little while, but then you’re just hairy and those ingrown hairs still show up eventually. Even using expensive antibacterial soaps, special creams, and avoiding tight clothing can only do so much because they only treat the symptoms of folliculitis instead of the cause. With laser hair removal, the underlying cause of folliculitis—your unwanted hair—is gone for good, so there’s no need to worry about unflattering stubble, red bumps, or pimples ruining your smooth, hair-free skin.
  • Does Glam Body use an IPL machine or a medical grade laser?

  • Post Laser Hair Removal Care
After your treatment you should expect some temporary side effects, all of which are perfectly normal. Here’s a quick guide to help you to understand what you should expect, and what you can do to help your treated area after laser hair removal; It’s likely that there will be some swelling in the hair follicle areas, which can last up to 7 days. Expect heat and itchiness in the treatment area, up to 7 days after your treatment. The treated area of skin may appear darker initially, this is a normal expected response. If you can, try to avoid touching or scratching the treated area. Keep the area cool and don’t wear tight clothing – eg. no tights or jeans. Soothe the area with Glam Post laser gel as much as possible in the days after your treatment. Avoid using all make up on the area for 24 hours after your treatment. If you absolutely have to use makeup at this time, ensure it is mineral based. Avoid sun exposure for a minimum of one week after the treatment, remembering to use a broad spectrum SPF 30+ at all times. Do not apply deodorant for 24 hours if treated under the arms. Avoid very hot baths or showers for 24 hours after your treatment, and avoid swimming for 48 hours. Don’t visit saunas or steam rooms for 48hrs after your treatment. Avoid having treatments such as chemical peels, injectables, or micro needling treatments in the same area for up to 4 weeks.
